The California Public Records Act (CPRA), GC 6250 et seq, is the California state law which gives the public the right to access public records held by an agency during the normal course of business. Certain types of records or information are exempt from disclosure.
Approved on October 11, 2015, SB 272 adds a section to the California Public Records Act requiring local agencies to create a catalog of Enterprise Systems by July 1, 2016 with annual updates. Click here to view the City of Madera Enterprise Systems catalog.
To request to inspect or obtain a copy of a public record, complete the online Public Records Request Form by clicking here. Alternatively, print and return a hard copy of our Public Records Request Form, by mail or in person, to the City Clerk's office at Madera City Hall, located at 205 W. 4th Street, Madera, CA 93637. Although requests for public records are not required to be in writing, we request that the form be completed. The form is designed to provide the City with the information necessary to assist us in identifying the specific records you are seeking. It also serves as a tracking mechanism to ensure that you receive a response within the statutory timeline.
Describe to the best of your ability the records you are seeking and provide any other information such as dates, names, property address, or record type to assist us in identifying the specific record.
The Public Records Act allows the City up to 10 days to respond to a request and/or provide an estimated date on when the public records, if any, will be available. Under certain circumstances, the City may notify you of the need to extend the response time by an additional 14 days.
Copies for standard size documents are 10¢ per page for single sided copies, or 15¢ per page for double-sided copies. Additional fees may apply for alternate formats.
